If getting a good set of abs or reducing your waist line is one of
your exercise goals then this review may help you.

One of the most popular books on building strong stomach muscles is
The Truth About Abs by Mike Geary.

It sheds light on some of the common errors in our training and
provides very sound advice on how to get great abs.

I downloaded Mike’s book and immediately turned on my “scam alert
radar”. I’ve read and tried enough of these kinds of books that I
know what to look for.

The book is 104 pages - a good size for a $37 product - and has a
nice professional cover which is a good sign.

The first thing I do with ebooks is go right to the end to see what
the author is trying to sell me. In the fitness industry, they’ll
pound on you to buy their shakes, supplements or protein powders.

Try this out for yourself next time you buy an ebook.

And if they’re trying to sell you a bunch of stuff, be wary.
Avoid these guys like the plague. They are simply trying to
separate you from what’s inside your wallet.

Good news…no other products were being promoted.
In fact, Mike caught me by surprise.

At the end of the book, Mike tells you to email him if you have any
questions.

Highly unusual. So I tested it out expecting the usual automatic
email coming back.

I nearly fell out of my chair when an hour or two later, I got an
email back from Mike.

Geez, is this guy crazy? He answered my question and didn’t try to
sell me anything.

Odd.

Now let’s get into the book in detail.

The Truth About Abs starts off as all ab type books do. That is,
the author tells you why he is a credible source, and it’s clear
that Mike has been around the business and probably knows his stuff.

Right from the start though, there’s something different about
Mike’s approach.

He explains that you’ll be only be doing a few ab exercises each
week.

And that’s seems so counterintuitive.

To be fair to Mike, I won’t reveal what he says. It’s enough to
say that it that makes a lot of sense.

He also makes a special point to talk about how women can benefit
from these exercises.

Don’t think this is for hard core bodybuilders. It’s nothing of
the kind. In fact, I came away thinking this was for the everyday
man and women on the street.

Next up are the exercises Mike recommends. He does a good job of
explaining them and has some great pictures.

I have to say I was a bit disappointed that they were all of men.

Not for the reasons you might think.

But simply because this is a book that women should read and it
would have been better with photos that they could relate to.

Now at this point, the book gets real interesting.

You see, I was expecting 95% of the book to be on exercises.

Boy was I wrong. In fact, it has just about thirty pages of them.

That’s because the “secret sauce” of Mike’s methods involve
several important factors that will make or break your quest to get
a six pack or a trim waist.

What’s more, they really rock!

And in the next blog, I’ll explain what they are.
